![]() Once setup was supposedly complete, I was not able to connect to internet, so I did a hard reset of the gateway. ![]() It took about 15-20 minutes for setup and cycling/registration. Same use case as before with multiple web conferences, including computer audio, sharing presentations, video, etc. I have not had the signal drop once in the past week since I've had the aftermarket gateway. I replaced the Arris gateway with the Motorola MT771 gateway and now it works perfectly. The motherboard and wireless card on my work laptop were changed. I had someone come out and check all our lines and he found no issues. I was on with Xfinity support for more than I care to admit and they found no issues. I ordered a new gateway, which didn't resolve the issue. I had already done that and he found no issues. It was recommended that I get a tech out to my house to address the signal issues. Of course, the error and event logs don't show any issues at all, so kind of at a loss as to how to proceed other than to get my own gateway and save some money over the long term. I've had someone come out and tell me that all the lines and connections inside and outside the house are fine (before I got the new gateway). Its also worth mentioning that the 172 alternative. On top of that, its fairly safe to say that Motorola MT7711 is a more popular modem, based on its 2,000+ reviews. I've chatted and talked to them a few times about the connectivity and that's why I have a new gateway. So Motorola MT7711, while being a pricier option, tends to get more favorable reviews than the 178 Arris Surfboard SVG2482AC, as seen on the chart below. I was on chat with an Xfinity rep for about an hour and was unable to resolve the voice issue. I'm pretty sure it's an Xfinity/Arris gateway issue. I've had my work check my drivers, perform diagnostics on the wireless card, and even gone so far to have my motherboard replaced (for a different issue). It does not occur at my office, hotels, airports, wireless hotspot, client offices, etc. It only happens when connected to my home network. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect in order to restore internet access. Whenever I use online meetings (e.g., Zoom, WebEx, GoToMeeting, Bluejeans, Skype), it will be connected, but show no internet connection. This is largely with my work laptop, although it occasionally happens with our home laptop (which frankly gets much less use) and sometimes on my phone (Galaxy S9). The Issue (the "too long" part for additional context): Any experiences with this gateway and setup? I expect to have to call Comcast to complete setup after initial installation, but hoping it resolves my connectivity issues. Replaced last week and having same issues with "new" one, as well as voice no longer working.Įxpecting the MT7711 to arrive today and want to install. ![]() Just ordered because of connectivity/throughput issues (not quite sure how to describe, see below for more) related to my previous Comcast-owned Arris TG1682G.
